Not sure if anyone else has noticed it, but Ran's cat has markings that make it look like Atom. Really cute.

I'm not sure how the localization process works in the US (all I know is that it's garbage), but the fact that the show is already in English raises the chances of it being brought over. I don't know what channel would pick it up (Disney has a block for younger kids, but Disney buying rights to Astr...

Ouija board? The problem is, though, that'd be really awkward to play with the guy with the dead son in the room. "We're gonna contact him." "Doctor, this'll trigger a relaps--" "WE'RE GONNA CONTACT HIM"
Okay, while that's not really approp...

I must say, I'm impressed! I was expecting the artwork to look like a generic blocky western mess, but it looks much cleaner than that. Atom looks so adorable before the backdrop of the massive city. Hopefully there will be a focus on him being a child and discovering the city and his own humanity, ...

I'm pretty sure that Atom and Tobio look almost identical and the only reason why Tezuka had Atom's hair as a different color/texture from his 'counterpart' was to give the audience immediate recognition of who was who. Yes, I've heard it said that Atom's more robotic appearance is just Tezuka's wa...

Not sure if I mentioned this already, but the -tan in Chi-tan's name is the other half of the pun. "Chitan" is part of the word Titanium, while "-tan" in itself doubles as an honorific (usually used for exceedingly cute people or idols).

I never understood why Astro didnt want Lily to know he was a robot but it was heartbreaking nonetheless. It wasn't stated explicitly in the manga, but judging from Atom's deep desire to be a real human (which can be identified all throughout the manga), it's easy to infer that he wanted at least o...

Well to be fair, loan words are usually altered from their original languages. Think of how we (English speakers) pronounce words like "tsunami", "kamikaze", or "sayonara"--much differently than how they are actually pronounced in Japanese. From what I've gathered, consonants (other than n) cannot b...

Topic: Thoughts about the Astro/ Tenma relationship in the 2003 series?

I believe I looked at this thread before, but I just didn't have the time to reply. Now, however, I do! To begin, it makes sense that Tenma would have much more of a role in the 2003 anime, since the whole anime is an expansion of two specific chapters in the manga, Blue Knight (1965) and Astro Boy ...

I won't touch the movie. I'll be happy eternally reviewing my BD rips of the 2003 series and my box set of the 1963 series. I thought everyone here loved that westernized mess--it's reassuring to see people sharing my sentiments about the lack of quality and effort.
