Yes Brahms (the Hungarian Rhapsodies). I think they used part of the planets (Mars) in one of the Astro Boy episodes (I think the 1980 version). Episode one of the 1963 version used Beethoven's 5th for the 'creation' scene. IIRC, in 1983 they used Liszt's "Les Preludes" in the English dubbed version...

"AprilSeven" wrote:and ALWAYS anything by Bach, Beethoven, Faure and Mozart!!

To which I'd add Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Schubert, and Chopin.

but i didn't like that "female bug of the space", i didn't remember the name, it was her's fault that Astro was sent to the past, by her's selfishness :( If you read the entire story arc (it took 3-4 of the Dark Horse books) you might have spotted the bad pun that Dr. Tezuka wrote into the names of...

Baka: idiot Bakana: impossible Ryu: Dragon Baka can also be translated as "Fool". During WWII the Japanese built a rocket powered plane that was actually a piloted missile. They called it the Baka. Guess they didn't have much faith in it (it didn't work) and the pilots who flew it were fools (or id...

Astro Boy March

I recently found a very nice rendition of the Astro Boy theme played by the Cincinnati Pops under Eric Kunzel. http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Young-Heart-Erich-Conductor-Kunzel-CD-Oct-1992-Telarc-Distribution-/112569167 I wish I could post an MP3 of this, but the DMCA police would be all over that.

I was shocked, troubled, and moved by "The Angel of Vietnam" I wouldn't call it my "favorite" . . . but it was certainly one of the stories that had the most impact on me. Difficult to pick a "favorite" because Tezuka kept modifying Atom/Astro's story and adventures - each seems to highlight someth...

Somehow I have to think of Mars as Atom's little kid brother who is always getting in trouble (in different ways than Uran). Almost like Wally and the Beaver (Warning age showing!).

Very wishful thinking perhaps. There are lots of robots that come close in some ways. I often fantasize about building an animaton (animated figure like what they have at Disney world) that looks like Atom. I didn't say Robot or Android because that would imply a self aware machine. While I could pr...

For those that just HAVE to say Astro is their favorite character, which version? There are three Anime versions, the CGI movie, and the Manga versions to pick from. I'm partial to the 1963 Anime version myself, though I'm also fond of the 2003 Astro as well (he can sound so innocent in that incarna...
