[QUOTE=ASTROBUDDY;104471][QUOTE=AprilSeven;104468][QUOTE=ASTROBUDDY;104464] One of the reasons the 1980s Astroboy was a hard sell in the U.S.A. was because it was thought to be too much of a downer because in almost every other episode someone dies! The Canadian dub removed most of that! I  ...

It aired on the CW in the '90s. Hi, Jayrath! Are you sure you saw the 80s Astroboy you were part of on the "CW" in the "90s"? As far as I know the CW which was a merger between the then UPN and the WB networks had its first broadcast in 2006! The Astro Boy series that did air on the WB & Cartoon ne...

[QUOTE=ASTROBUDDY;104464] [The fact that a young male child was used in the Canadian version is neither here nor there because when listening to the voice can anyone who was not told really honestly know the difference between an adult female voice and that of a minor male voice!) !980s Astroboy in the U.S.A.

Does any one out there remember watching the 80s Astroboy on TV and on what channel they watched it on and when it aired, i.e., year, day, time, etc.? If you do please let me know as so far as I know, only one channel definitely aired the show in the eighties on U.S. TV. Thank you! I  :astro:...

Hi, Jayrath! You say that you dubbed the first episode in Dec. 1980/Jan. 1981! Then would you tell me when actual production on the series began? And since the episodes have a copyright of 1982, when did you complete the dubbing of the series? Also I believe Bender the Sniper is referring to the fir...

I speak English and fairly good Spanish and have a rudimentary knowledge of Japanese! I can also understand and read some Italian, Portuguese and French! And I also know a little Yiddish I learned from my girlfriend and some of her friends!

The Canadian dub is more entertaining, I feel because the Canadians followed the lead of the 1960s U.S. version and added more humor! What has become the official dub (since it was coordinated by Tezuka Pro. & NTV and is the only one available on home video) was a straight forward translation of the...

My favorite version is the original 1960s U.S. dubbed animated version, because for me it has the best combination of humor and drama! While I have come to like each version of "TetsuWan Atom(u)", the 1960s anime was the one that Dr. Tezuka was closest to in its production and Fred Ladd and staff ha...

Box set# 1 has the original first Japanese episode and Japanese episode# 20, in Japanese with English subtitles! Box set# 2 has Japanese episodes#s 34, 56 (the full color episode) and 193 (the final epiosde) all in Japanese with English subtitles! I think what Jeffbert is concerned with is that perm...
