While I do think the American issue floppy format only had limited success in Japan, it seems that the Mighty Atom Club is one of the more successful attempts considering it lasted around 3 years.

It seems that traditional comic issues aren't big business in Japan judging by all long they last versus traditional manga serialized books and trade collections, which are the norm.

Today was the broadcast of the sixth episode in the third season of the Ducktales reboot that started in 2017. Titled Astro B.O.Y.D, it had a number of Anime references notably Astro Boy. I remember feeling really shocked when I saw this episode, at the time I hard a hard time imagining a character who had very comedic moments (which Dr. Y had a lot of them) ever getting killed off in a cartoon, that was usually reserved for more serious characters in my experience at the time.

There's also has several statues erected to him, including one in front of an elementary school of him embracing the earth.

How's the project coming along?

The anime was sort of disappointing compared to the manga.
