Why do you think Tezuke made Jetter Mars when he all ready had Astro?? (or was Jetter Mars made first??)(is Jetter Mars a Robort too or just naturel got rocket boots and lasers???)

He created Jetter Mars because he wanted to do a colored version of Astro Boy, but at the time he had temporarily lost the rights to his own works (because of Mushi Production's bankrupt). So he did some kind of rip-off of his own work

That was AMAZING! I'm sad that it appears Astro "lost" though
I wonder if Dr. Tezuka ever considered creating a manga/anime with both Jetter and Astro and how he would have made their relationship. It seems like something he MUST have thought about - does anyone know?
I wonder if Frederik Schodt (his translator) might know...

There is a crossover with Ochanomizu, by Noboru Miyama. The artstyle mimics Teuzuka's really well.

That is fascinating!! Where is Astrobuddy! We need him to translate for us!! 
I can imagine Ochanomizu would be very frustrated with Jetter's independent attitude, compared with Astro's calm obedience. In some ways, Jetter Mars is more like Uran in personality than Astro. I bet Tezuka had a bit of fun making an "un-Astro Boy" but my heart will always belong to

Astro lost? 
Jetter Mars might be able to beat Astro in a fight (at least in that video) but he could never beat Astro when it comes to helping and saving people. Mars is too destructive and fun loving. The heart is better then brawn in many ways. Go !
