Manhattan Baby (L'occhio Del Male) - Fabio Frizzi

One of the many late '70s to early '80s Italian Horror soundtracks I have a copy of. I've been building a bit of a collection over the years. I listen to this score most often while writing, it helps my brain get into an accurate tone for most (if not all) of my short stories.

I actually memorized one of the songs from this score on piano, Sequence 3 to be specific. And I've covered it multiple times. To bad it's the only song that wasn't used in the film.

I haven't posted in this thread for a while, so I might as well post an album from the band I've been listening to lately:

Galneryus - Angel of Salvation (2012)

Galneryus is a power metal/neo-classical metal band from Osaka, Japan. I discovered them a few years back and have liked their music the more I've known about them. They're like a fine wine: they only get better with age. The guitarist in particular is incredible.

This particular album is their eighth album, and third one with the lead singer they got in 2010. This one adds in symphonic metal elements along with their main neo-classical/power metal shtick. If you've ever wanted to know what Bach or Beethoven would've sounded like in metal form, then this band is for you.

Here's a link to the music video for Angel of Salvation, the epic titular song from this album. They actually had to cut the song's length in half for the music video; the actual song is 14 minutes and 42 seconds long!

Il Pentito (The Repenter/The Squealer) - Ennio Morricone

A wonderfully composed and criminally underrated score by soundtrack maestro Ennio Morricone. I discovered this score while trying to find a copy of The Sicilian Clan (a much harder to find score by the same composer). The song from this score that had me hooked was without a doubt Messagio, the second track.

Vinnie Moore - Out of Nowhere (1996)

One of the virtuoso guitarists to emerge from the mid to late eighties, Moore mainly uses fast picking and melodic song structures in his music. All of his solo albums are instrumental, including this one. His genres are hard rock, heavy metal, and neo-classical metal.

Out of Nowhere is one of his more mellow albums, though there are some energetic and upbeat songs on this album. It has a good mix of both upbeat and mellow songs. Pretty solid album overall.

Foster the People - Torches

This is a great indie pop group I recently discovered (they're actually pretty popular now). Their new album Supermodel is also pretty good.

admittedly, i haven't listened to some of their newer albums besides a few tracks from "the glitch" but nothing really resonated with me like some tracks on "the second effect".

Nosferatu - Popol Vuh

As a horror soundtrack, this one is rather unique in style. It has strong meditation music overtones, but does move into some other styles. Some songs are eerie and wasteland like (To a Little Way and Der Ruf der Rohrflöte), while others sound like old European folk tunes (Die Umkehr and Morning Sun).

Novas Bossas - Jobim Trio & Milton Nascimento

I actually didn't know about Milton until a job I had working on a Kickstarter/music video for a friend of my dad's.
Great stuff, I highly recommend this album.

Edit:
Looks like I've got the 100th post on this thread.
