Can you read the title of this thread?
it is "astro speaks morse"

The morse code, actually it is the international radio telegraph code, is really a cypher since only symbols are substituted for letters.

I had to learn the morse code years ago to get my ham license, today it is no longer required and is a dieing language.

I'll post more on the code in this thread later on.

I think it would be cool to learn Morse Code. I tried to once when I was littler, but it was too confusing to me. :d oh: Very cool though!

It can be hard to read Morse as -- --- .-. ... . due to spacing issues, and some people have problems "visualizing" as dot's and dashes, especially since morse was meant to be HEARD. So hams have always learned it as dit and dah instead of dot and dahs, that's closer to the way it sounds. Also over the air we use short cuts, and abbreviations such as Q signals

IE:
dah dah dit dah / dit dah dit / dah dah --- you're being interfered with
dah dah dit dah / dit dah dit / dah dit --- you're signal is noisy
dah dah dit dah / dah / dit dit dit dit --- my location is ...

dit dit dit dit / dit dit // dit dit dit dit / dit dit --- laughter
dah dah dit dit dit / dit dit dit dah dah --- best regards, goodbye
dah dah dah dit dit / dah dah dah dit dit --- love and kisses!



and how one station gives a general call for anyone to answer .....
