Why do I get the feeling Tamao is mainly a child version of Tezuka?

He is, or at least inspired by Tezuka's own self from his childhood. I think it's mentioned in "The Art of Osamu Tezuka: God of Manga".

I recently found a website that has images from this album booklet that are clearer than the ones I originally posted. The one image that is not there is one that is not usually shown because it is obscured by the fact that it is part of a foldout page. It features an inset where you see: Astro Boy (Atom), with Astro Girl (Uran) and Dr. Elefun (Dr. Ochanomizu) in the rocket ship to the moon to meet with the Junior Squadron. I am including it here for the sake of completion from my own copy. (Any one wanting to see the rest of the pictures, please ask. --Astrobuddy
