Glad to see you could download it too Fauna. The wording was cryptic in that article, so I wasn't sure if would be available outside of the US.

I'm interested to know how Dr. Ochanomizu looks too. I wonder if he has the gun hands as well.

LMFAO

I thought the same, too. Like, if they're already using his 2003 design, why not put him on his robot dog aeroboard and have him use that spiked collar he put Astro under with?

I would play as him for a laugh and a half, but he costs real world money, and I can feel stupid for free offline.

I've been playing through a few times, and now I feel like I can give a cohesive review on the game.

It's basically Touhou x Metal Slug, but on a loop; you scroll back and forth automatically shooting dispersing enemies, with occasional boss fights, and it seems like you just keep going until you collide with something. You have a one-hit-death, and sometimes it seems like one corner of Astro's arm cannon will hit something, and everything is over. It's not as bad as Flappy Bird, but it's a little close.

You blow up robots to collect the coins inside them, which you can use to upgrade your character's weaponry. There are occasionally boosts (which widen your range or make coins home in on you) or gems (which are worth more coins.) You can use emeralds to buy more characters, but so far, these seem to be only available by buying bundles with real-world money. The other characters include Ochanomizu, Tenma, Blue Knight, and Atlas (in his 1980s style.)

Astro's game over animation.

Soaring high in the sky, he may be 300 pounds but only in size...

It's not a bad game, but it's very clearly in its 1.0.0 stage. I wish I could unlock the characters instead of just paying for them. Maybe the emeralds become available by the eventual end of a level.

They've drawn Astro's cowlicks at the wrong angle. He doesn't have one straight back in line with his widow's peak, and they've also added some strange highlights to his hair.

Nice to see that Dr. Elefun (Ochanomizu) uses a blow dryer against the forces of evil. He'll have trouble standing up against Robocop Tenma though.

Actually, once I think about it, the developers made a big mistake not including Tawashi as one of the playable characters. Just imagine: Tawashi gracefully soaring through the sky like the most elegant of pigeons. His nose would be missing, and in its place is an automatic flamethrower. It shines under the rays of the sun as a jet of flame escapes. However, because of the direction he is heading his face is set ablaze in a matter of seconds (oops). A thing of absolute beauty.

I would pay good money to see that.

Hey the game is in its first release version. It could still happen! Also maybe there will be third party add on's later.
