Actually that IS what the file name for those jpgs you posted claim, (your names?). One thing I noticed though was that Atom's eyes are BLUE in that game! That makes me think that the game wasn't something that Tezuka (or Mushi) Studios approved, they would have known better!

That's exactly what it is, here are some more pics including cards and game pieces:

Wonderful! where did you find this image, Novacain?

as near as I can tell, the thying transcribes to:
鉄腕アトムシヨツワゲーム

but no relevant search results yet.

Pfft, cute!

And just because there is a cosmetic error in the design, that does not mean that it wasn't officially licensed. It just means that Tezuka himself likely had little to do with its actual creation. The art style isn't quite on model, either- unless it was from the 80's...

Yeah, I find it very unlikely Tezuka was involved in the merchandising. That's usually a very separate department that the creators of these franchises are rarely a part of I think which one of various reasons why it is very common for official merchandise out there of various franchises to get little details of the characters wrong.

I took it this morning, I own this game (ordered off Ebay a few years ago).
Here's a shot of the instructions on the box, I can't read them but the illustrations are pretty straightforward:

Another strange toy is Cosmic Boy, anyone ever seen this before? I got this on Craigslist, the owner was giving a bunch of toys away :w00t:

Here's another blue eyed Atom toy, I kinda like Astro with baby blues:

I think I've seen Cosmic boy before, or some variations thereof. And yes, he does look good with different eye colors. Unfortunately, it sometimes upsets people with brown eyes to say things like that too much...

The name cosmic boy almost sounds like a Russian version of Atom.

Here's a rare Japanese product I found just now through a couple Japanese sites; it's the Asahi Sonorama B-61, or Astro Boy sonosheet. I believe it has some of the songs from the series on the sonosheet and also comes with pictures from the series itself. It was originally released on March 1, 1964.

You can view more images of it in the following links:

EDIT: Looks like there was more than one of these sonosheets for Astro Boy. Here's another one from 1964 with a short story in it:

Huh, neat. I wonder if these were like bits of the general soundtrack, or if they contained the actual songs that were sung in the episodes (I know there were at least a few, though I have a feeling that some did not make it into the English dub). Either way, that'd be neat... it'd be nice to have a quality track of Atom singing, or of Cobalt's theme song...

What exactly is a Sonosheet, anyway? What difference is there between it and a record (besides the fact that it seems to be made of a translucent material)?
