Astroboy's thrilling baseball fight

This video was aired in a Japanese TV variety show,in 1969.

https://ja.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%B7% ... 8%E3%83%A0

This describes a fight between Astroboy and the protagonist of a famous anime "Kyojino hoshi[ it means "Yomiuri Giants' star"]".
Yomiuri Giants is a professional baseball team in Japan.

I like this background music and thrilling fight.

In 1969,Astroboy's popularity had already gone, "Kyojino hoshi" was very popular, instead.

"Kyojino hoshi" describes struggle and growth of a Yomiuri Giants' baseball pitcher. He is the pitcher in this video.
His name is 星飛雄馬.Some say he is named after 天馬飛雄[Temma Tobio ,of course, Astro]. Because 天 means "sky", and 星 means "star". Both names are too similar to be a coincidence.

This video was directed by Tomino Yoshiyuki, who is famous for "Mobile suits Gundom". He worked on Astroboy in 1965-66, and "Kyojino hoshi" around 1969 .

Unfortunately, this video is not full and is not sold at full version.

I've seen pictures of that episode before, but had never seen video of it. Very fascinating. Thank you for sharing, Mustachio! :)

I had to search my posts but I remembered that I had posted info on this video and here it is: The episode, "Star of the Giants vs. Astro boy" was a single episode of a series known as "Maeda Fugen's Rivals Under the Stars" which aired from April 5, 1969 to Sept. 27, 1969 on Saturdays from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The episode in question aired on Sept. 6, 1969. The series was geared to bring characters from different series together. In this episode Atom (aka Astro Boy) and friends take on the "cast" of the series "Star of the Giants" (a baseball-based anime) in a friendly baseball game. Suffice it to say Atom & Co. are the winners in a very close game. I believe Maeda Fugen was the sponsor, but what they manufactured I am not sure. Also I believe that the word, "TetsuWan" is used to describe a strong pitcher. (As in he has an "iron arm". Also it translates as "mighty" as in "Mighty Casey at the Bat.")
I  :astro: :) (I this posted nine years ago.)

The word "Tetsu" literally means 'iron'. I wonder if 'Tetsu Uma' is a thing in Japan for old trains.
