As I recall, Tezuka used robots as metaphors for the servant class.

RUR was, if I recall correctly, the origin of the word ''robot''. Before RUR, mechanical people were called ''automatons''. The word ''robot'' was a play on words, deriving from the Czech ''robota'' meaning ''serfdom''. So yes, robots have always been a metaphor for the servant class.

He'd be screaming in frustration in how many of the problems he was expressing against in his day are not just still here, but some coming back with a vengeance.
