I quite like this one, its a pity I don't know enough Japanese to know what is being said. The differences between the two marketing processes in each country are huge though.

I can see the movie doing poorly in both because it won't have enough action for America and it won't have enough of the more "sentimental" story ideas to satisfy the Japanese audience.

I think it could work. Doubt it'll be Dark Knight or GI Joe big, but I think it could work. At least the people behind it understand what they have and how to market it accordingly to each culture unlike other anime movies which shall remain nameless(COUGHDRAGONBALLCOUGH)

I think your right though. Clearly it is going to be targeted as a childrens film, and will likely run over the course of a school holiday period. As lon as it does decently and I enjoy it, then everything is good.
I don't expect to see a sequel or anything like that, the related videogames "might" be ok but I don't have really high hopes for them either. Not much we can do besides wait.
