I had noticed that in Robot Boy, the Asians' speech resembles that of American Indians in the old Westerns. I not being an Asian, was not offended by it, though. In the Mr. Magoo DVDs they apparently have redubbed Charlie's speech, which had been the old switch the 'L's with the 'R's type of thing with a more respectful pronounciation.

I suppose unflattering depictions are indeed offesive to members of the group being depicted, but in this age of PC, how bad can anything actually be? They have banned many classic cartoons, some of which merely contained brief depictions, and may have had redeeming qualities as well. But then, of my group, there are almost no depictions, except the Joe character in Family Guy & the title character in Dr. Strangelove, whose misfortune was ridiculed. I have been attacked by my own left arm, & there is nothing funny about it! I do not count Professor Xavier of the X-Men because they compensate him for his paralysis with 'powers.' Cripples are just too uncool to be characters in TV shows. Ok, the title character of Ironside is certainly another example, but how many more are there? There was the boy in ep #20 of the 2003 Atom that for what ever reason never made it to the English language version.

As much as I was offended by Strangelove's affliction being the object of humor, I did laugh at it anyway. So, lighten up! irate:

I think the Atom episode was banned for the use of Peter Pan (they feared a lawsuit from Disney) not for the kid in the wheelchair.

All in good fun, and I laugh at lighthearted jokes about other people's cultures, so why not?

It's just that in Robotboy, they make a point to make the only two Japanese characters as offensively, ridiculously stereotyped as they possibly can, making one a small, bone-headed thing named Kamikaze, of all things, and goes around in a robe, and his sidekick a giant, stupid sumo wrestler.
It seems especially wrong when you think about how much they ripped off of Astro Boy and MegaMan, who are both originally Japanese characters.

I'm not raging about it or anything, not about to go nuts; I just feel offended by this instance.

Holy cow, I forgot I ever made these comics! They're all so old...I can draw a lot better nowadays.

But a comic with Daichi? I'll see what I can think up.

@ Robotboy: I can watch one episode of this show, and easily point out everything that's been ripped off. As well, the way they portray Asians and African-Americans is truly sick.

@ member comic: That would be kind of fun. You might have to ask permission of everybody first, depending on what you have us do.

I'd love to see s'more.

@ member comic: Well, I suppose. The plan was basically to make a simple 4- or 6-coma with my impressions of everyone, rather than actual illustrations of the people.

especially since you know the Japanese do the exact same thing with us. I mean, I was playing Katamari Damacy (where you roll up things and even people) and at some point, I rolled up a big fat guy in a cowboy hat and he was labeled as "American guy" I loled 'cause it's sadly true

Hey, I haven't seen most of these! I actually ended up reading through all of them. Crow's latest song..... omg, so funny. It's what she sounds like!

"Metropolis in a nutshell" had me in HYSTERICS.

Of course, you know I like Skunk, so anything with him is an automatic favorite of mine. But I was surprised about how much you've done. And I always forget how young you still are. It's all very impressive.

Don't ever stop drawing and making comics, no matter what people say. I can really see them going somewhere. As you get older, you'll continue to get better and learn new techniques, and find out how to incorporate your art into other things. I can really see you making a living out of this.

You've read all my old comics? hmy: Augh, looking back, some of them are so badly-drawn! And I keep finding ones where I'm ranting at yaoi fangirls...

But really...thank you for the advice, the motivation. I would have never improved this much without all your encouragement.

I only noticed the dialogue as being stereotypical; but I admit the physical attributes are indeed offensive.
