If I recall corectly Jetter Mars was created sorta based on astro because tazuka's patants were in limbo and he couldn't use astro as is and he was under pressure from an animation company he took a job with when mushi productions went under, so he alteres astro a bit and made jetter mars.

What skill(s) was she performing? Her gymnastics technique is a disaster judging from that picture!

@Diehard: Actually, that's pretty dead-on; he wanted to make a colour series of Astro Boy, but couldn't due to copyright problems after Mushi Productions died, so he gave Astro and co. an overhaul and used them for fun. Also, you might want to stop typing messages with your nose.
