Here is a different take on the SOLAR SPHERE story:

Note Afill, at top right; directly beneath him is one of the physicians from the B&W BLACK LUX stories. Note that there are two versions, & he appears in only 1. On the bottom row in the middle is a guy whose unique mustache makes him stand out. I believe he appeared in one of Atom's manga stories.

"Go buy some clothes."

But Bond only used the clothier as a means of losing the pesky little robot.

"Is this familiar?"

I recall Natsu Onada Powers' book mentioning a large bell; but not what she said about it. BTW, it appears in other versions of this story.

Jeffbert, what is the proportion of Jetter Mars episodes which are this close to episodes of the 1980 Astro Boy series?

Hey, I remember this story from the Astro Boy manga. I think the man was just a detective though rather than a secret agent.

Offhand, I can say no fewer than three were fairly well represented.

This one, The one about the Pluto-like robot, there is one about a space vampire, & one with Garon. Bem plays Dolly in another, which has nothing to do with any super bomb-- I need to look at my notes to be sure, but there are plot elements in a few that otherwise would be unrelated. 2 Robot Smuggling Gang seems to have lent some plot elements to TOMBOY URAN.

Continuing the story,

Mars goes after the freezing sphere:

"Now, I shall play 'Those Endearing young charms."

For those unfamiliar with this tune, it is the one that Yosemite Sam challenged Bugs Bunny to play, having attached a bomb to the piano that would explode if the thing were played correctly.

I can't believe I had totally forgotten that little "photo session"! As if anybody needed more proof that Mars has cute moments even more often than Atom.

Embarrassment or just plain shy? Either way, you are right, F-Man, he is very cute.
