One thing for sure it seems like we might very well get the TV specials such as Marine Express on Region 1 DVD next year.

That would be nice. At least one Anime site had been streaming a Marine Express fan sub earlier this year. I finally got to watch it after seeing bits and pieces of it without subtitles on Youtube for some time.

Isn't Marine Express on Viki, though? (I STILL can't watch it because I STILL can't resolve the italics issue- maybe it's my TV? But it's not exactly like I can fix that!)

Yes they were most likely talking about Viki. Viki uses fansubs (Viki is for "Video Wiki").

I really wish to support the series, but it would be good if they had released a bluray version of 2003 series without cuts and subs (with original names).
It's pretty awfull supporting the anime by buying these junky dvds...
The english dub gave bad reputation for the series and their adapted names are unworthy...

Actually, I do believe that there is an official Korean release that contains the first 25 episodes of the 03 series subtitled. I don't know where you can find it exactly, but I'm sure someone else on the forum will.
