I found a thing.

You must look. You must watch. Seriously, you guys, I think that this is amazing.

Just watch it for me, okay? Makes me seriously wonder if some of us nerds can't get together someday and do something like this... almost makes me want to cry, I think. Or cheer, more appropriately (and then cry, as I know that there is no more after this).

So when did TeD Turner get ahold of the '60s Astroboy? Seriously, I'm surprised he never bought the rights from Tezuka. While colorizing the series I suppose a computer could also generate interpolating frames to smooth out the limited animation that was used also.

How did you find this? Who did that? That was amazing.

That was pretty cool. I never had a problem with it in black and white though, it was just the sound that I found annoying.
Still, that would be great if there were more.

Wow! It actually looks good in color. Nice! Why couldn't Casablanca look this good in color?

Just saw your tumblr post about this. It's so prettyyyyy ;w;
I just love how bright and colorful everything is, and the music just makes it seem so fresh and cool! (I mean it was already cool but still) It's almost like watching it for the first time again. It's such a shame there wasn't more. This would have been a great thing. :'D

That was pretty cool! Interesting how Atom's eyes are blue instead of brown, but I'm not going to complain about that.

I'd like to see a full episode colored from these guys.

:blush: :cry: I could not identify all the episodes shown. :lol:

I believe Fred Ladd created or was involved in the creation of a process of colorization that was applied to the Popeye cartoons; but this was long ago, & techniques have greatly improved (I assume). Still, there are things that are best kept in monochrome, though this is not one of them.

Who decides what colors to use? The recurring characters likely have been depicted in color somewhere, but many have not. :p

The opening sequence was from the last season, and was available on the Right Stuff's DVD releases. BUT this video was done in '94 which may have predated their release of Astro on DVD (but it WAS on VHS from them).

BTW Ladd did colorization for WB, especially with the early Loony Tunes cartoons.
