BTW, it seems that every time I find a "Bio" or an "Obit" on a Japanese web site, they always give the person's blood type. That's a little TMI IMHO, and I have no idea why they do that!

In Japanese culture blood type would determine someone’s personality, temperament and how they get along with other people. It’s like listing someone’s Zodiac sign.

Back on topic. My favourite voices for Astro Boy are Mari Shimizu and Billie Lou Watt.

I like Candi Milo and Billie Lou Watt the best. But It's still kind of hard to decide with all of the other voices of Astroboy. But Yeah, When I think Astro, I hear these two. n_n!

I'm just going to shock everybody, and say Steven Bednarski! :D The Canadian 80s dub was still airing on Global in the early 90s, when I was young. Although Pat definitely comes in as a close second for me, what really makes his voice unique is that he was the only MALE VA for Astro in his history on television- whether in Japanese or English! And while I certainly agree that always having a female voice him has been effective in emphasizing his innocence... in the case of Steven Bednarski, a (then) young boy like Astro, he perfectly captured Astro's innocence and charm! Somehow, you could just feel that more in his performance than any other VA; it just seemed the most genuine.

Aw, I heard a bit of his voice in a promo for Astro Boy on Global TV, in a video I found on Youtube. He was pretty good for a kid, too. :3

Mari Shimizu did Jetter Mars' voice, as well, if I recall correctly.

I like his Japanese voice in the 2003 series the best, I think. His Japanese voice in the 60's (which actually sounds a bit different than the other dubs with Mari's voice, for some reason) is cute, too. Cobalt's original actor was simply the best; too bad he hasn't shown up in animation since then.

Freddie Highmore also made a cute Astro Boy, once you get over the aged appearance and deeper, distinctly male voice (although they ran into the same "growing child star" inconsistency in the voice that a lot of movies with younger VAs have).

I'm almost certain that the voice of Astro in that colorization demo is E.G. Daily (did I get her name right?). She was the voice of Buttercup in the Powerpuff Girls, I think.
