Little Astro Boy (2014 Animated Series)

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure someone on Youtube will put them up one day. (Maybe not on the day it comes out, but probably like a couple months after or so.) Unless, if Tezuka Anime puts some of the episodes up. Though, they haven't been putting up any episodes up in a while.

I'm suddenly a lot less worried. Channels TV has a live stream on YouTube.

EDIT: It seems to be a news only channel. But if they air the show on another of Nigeria's 13 stations, it'll probably be fine, they can all be streamed online in some way.

Yeah, maybe. You know, before that edit you made, I was like: Where's the shows at? Anyways, yeah. Hopefully Channels TV will put up the Astro boy Nigeria anime soon after its release. ! (Not too sure about Tezuka anime though. Maybe if one day, it will be dubbed in Japanese and Tezuka Anime will put it up w/ english subs.)

I'm pretty sure it won't ever be dubbed in Japanese. This whole scenario with Tezuka Productions is to allow other nations to adapt Astro Boy and make it their own (as far as I can tell anyway).

From the promotional poster on the first post of this thread it seems like Tezuka Productions is going to animate it and then it will more than likely send the animation off to Nigeria where it will be dubbed in English (as again that is the official language). This process makes sense and it's done all the time.

I really don't know why it would ever be dubbed in Japanese and then given English subtitles, that makes little sense to me. I don't think Japan will have any interest in showing this to their own populations and if they ever wanted to they would make it solely for Japanese youth as Astro Boy is an iconic character.

But then again who knows?

It doesn't seem like you've read the first post or much of previous news about this, as Tezuka Productions is only providing animation assistance. They had people from Channels TV go to Japan and learn animation directly from Tezuka Pro. This is an initiative to help other countries learn animation and character business.

Looks like they even have the animation book that Anime Sols is crowdfunding a US release for.

It was also stated that they plan to sell this series worldwide, which most likely references translating it and airing it in other places.

To add to this, I wouldn't be surprised if their aim to work with other countries was actually for the same series. They only have a few episodes planned at the moment. Maybe other episodes will be with other countries.

Though my guess is that the whole "multiple Astro Boy versions" was mistranslated from the get-go. I think this article has gotten it right, and that Robot Atom is only a catalyst for anime in general to be produced more often internationally so that it can still be profitable once the elderly make for 50% of the Japan population.

Well, I can't argue about that! Though, knowing me, I do enjoy Japanese a bit more than english dubs. (Though, I have no problem with 4kids english dubs. Though, for some reason, other people do. I honor them becuase they make their own music for the english dubs, and sometimes even names. And that's a hard thing to do!)

It should be dubbed japanese in my opinion because Tezuka pro. is helping out with it. Also, this could attract more attention to Tezuka Osamu so kids now days could understand and notice him more in Japan. (<<<Hope this sentence is clear enough to understand) I'm talking about Tezuka Anime. (You know, the youtube channel?) They could have it in Japanese and have english subs (Not directly on the video, but automatic closed captions option on youtube if you know what I mean here.)

lol. Yeah who knows? Though you do have a point there Earthshine that I can't complain on. Japan may find little interest on the series even if they did bring it there. (Just like they did w/ the americans making the Astro boy 2009 movie by IMAGI studios and Summit ent. That film was a complete failure in Japan.)

Though, I would like to see how other countries like Puerto Rico or India take on the show. (as in dubbing.)

Ah that makes so much more sense now. I was totally mistranslating things in my head. Thanks for clearing that up.

Really sad (in a depressing way) when you think about it. Watching the population of Japan drop further and with birth rates continuing to decline, there's no sign of the population hoping to improve anytime soon. It especially hurts considering that Japan really does have a great culture with thousands of years of history and one that I have an extremely strong interest in. I've dreamed about living in Japan one day because of the culture, but I very much fear for the future of Japan because of the population decline (and other reasons, but we can't discuss politics here).

At least I can wish Tezuka Production luck on making their products relevant outside of Japan. Hopefully this show will be beginning of a revival in interest for Tezuka products, especially once Japan continues to lose relevance in today's world.

@Thisis_osamushi also tweeted about Channels TV's live-stream, while questioning when exactly in March it's going to air.

Though Channels TV is a news channel, I still wouldn't be surprised if Robot Atom does air on their channel anyway. With only 2 episodes in March, that's only 1 hour out of 744. Playing it sometime in the morning on a news channel is a good way to attract a decent amount of viewership.

This is going to be the first Nigerian children's cartoon to air on one of their networks and one of the first Nigerian animations, period. Even the only other Nigerian children's cartoon ever made, Bino and Fino, has only managed to air in the UK (and gets its African sales from DVDs only).
