Osamu Tezuka references and parodies

Postby tailz » 10 years ago

well, I saw something similar to this on another forum site, and I thought that it would be fun to do something like that here! Besides just nothing but Black Jack references and Parodies in other animes, why not try and find things like that with other of Tezuka's works like The three eyed one or Astro boy for ex. (yeah, the other thread on that forum site was just all of Black Jack.)

So, if there is any references or parodies of Tezuka's works from other animes, then please share them here! I have one that I shared on another thread. (But its of Black Jack, so I won't be sharing it again.) Anyways, if you find any, then please share a link, spoiler, or Picture here. Thank you. :) (I currently have none to share at the moment. Sorry. :lol :)

It's not anime, but I have a couple of Tezuka references from a horror/occasional gag manga creator whose name I am hesitant to say for fear that somebody will look him up.

Image
Black Jack, from one of his older short stories

And a teeny tiny Astro from a short gag manga

Despite these Tezuka references, though, I would absolutely NOT recommend the majority of his manga to younger members and those who are faint of heart.
It's a magical day!

It was likely mentioned elsewhere, but Atom appeared very briefly in a SOUTHPARK movie, in which he, & many other cartoon characters were featured. He was parodied in an episode of THE VENTURE BROTHERS, in which grown-up boy heroes/adventurers were in a group therapy session.

Here is the thread where you mentioned it, along with some images. Typical South Park artwork.

Would you believe that Jurassic Park was a parody of Astro Boy?
Well maybe not, but it's possible that Tezuka gave Crichton the idea.

Oh, well I meant to say Anime or Manga parodies and references, not tv shows and movies cause that's a bit different, but okay.

Hmm. Sorry all I can think of are very endearing parodies about him from Western sources.

Though Atom was referenced in the Black Jack 2004 anime (I honestly can't remember which episode it was) when one doctor mentioned to Black Jack that "This isn't Astro Boy!" in regards to a medical procedure he was referencing. But this really doesn't count I guess.

Well, That is from another anime, but since its a Tezuka anime, I guess it doesn't really count much. Also, I've never heard him say that reference before. Must be from the Black Jack 21 series, which is the series I've never gotten to finish watching.

I also remember seeing a parody of Astro boy in the Black Jack 2004 series when Sharaku shouts "Astro boy saves the world!" and he turned into the shape of Astro. (Cuz Sharaku wanted to play a game with Pinoko, and then Pinoko says "I don't believe in violence." and then he says "Yeah, right." lol. ) But yeah, since its a Tezuka anime, it doesn't really count much.

I'm sure there have been plenty of direct references to Astro Boy in manga and anime, there certainly are many many instances of works being inspired by Tezuka's creations. It's just I cannot for the life of me think of any direct references or parodies that are out of the Tezuka universe.

Then again I don't really watch a whole lot of anime anymore or read manga. Of course there are certain series I hold very dear and keep to date on but it's just not really that appealing to me anymore.

Oh, don't worry about. Same here. I don't read manga or watch a whole lot of anime much anymore. The only animes that I'm watching now are all Tezuka anime. I like lots of other anime, its just that I really don't pay attention to them anymore and some of them I kinda lost interest in it. So yeah, I only watch retro anime now. The only other non Tezuka manga I read now is probably Pokemon Adventures and Cyborg 009. (<<Haven't read that one in a while.) I usually read just one volume of some manga, then I abandon it for a looong time. I don't know why, but I just do. (It's just like I did with Tokyo Mew Mew. Well, that was mostly the reason becuase I couldn't read it on my psp anymore cause the scans always came out blurry.)

Anyways, there are no references or parodies of anything Tezuka related in Cyborg 009,Pokemon, or Tokyo Mew Mew. None of those animes or manga have those things in it. (I also hardly ever pay attention to those shows anymore.) So yeah, to sum it all up, I just read and watch Tezuka stuff now.
