Brother Jetto

Postby Tetsuwan Penguin » 10 years ago

Cobalt wasn't introduced into the '63 anime until episode #85 (ELV). This episode is interesting for another reason though. Tezuka mixed live action with animation in a few earlier (and later) episodes that were not translated into English by Ladd. However THIS episode starts out with a view of Mushi Studios.

There are also some shots with Astro and another character (who is NOT in the story) standing outside of the building.

Finally, here is a really cute shot of Cobalt (Jetto).

I wonder if that animation technique was a throwback to Betty Boop? The old Betty cartoons did that a lot.

I saw this one online. I was kinda surprised they kept the live action bit.

That is Kentaro ('Kintaro'?) who introduces himself as such. :lol: Ladd calls him, Mo Trouble.

It was something to see the real building inside and out back in 1989.

Was the Mushi logo still there back then? Also were you there before or after Dr. Tezuka's passing?

Cobalt is adorable [[he's one of my favorite character asdfghjkl], I wish he could've showed up beyond the '63 cartoon. Hopefully he'll show up in Reboot.

I watched the "Deep, deep secrets" episode from '63 yesterday, I love how easily distracted Cobalt gets (He's leading a few people and then gets distracted by a catterpillar XDD)

Resisting the adorableness is not an option. :astro: :astro: :astro:

But it's so easy to get distracted by caterpillars... I did that all the time when I was a kid. Heck, I'd do it now, if I ever saw any... :< (Every once in a while, I'll get a rare treat of a woolly bear somehow having found it's way into my room; but these are so rare...) But yeah, bugs were fairly interesting to me back then. Even watching ants was better than kickball...

Also, goodness, another Cobalt fan! :) And we can only hope, although with the "original story" angle, that seems highly unlikely, especially with his loss of relevance (or even recognition!) over so much time. ;-;

Oh Cobalt, you and your distracted self...

And yeah, I could get really distracted with getting a caterpillar up on a tree. Usually I see those green ones.

Which episode was this, anyway?

Episode 84 in the English version (entitled "Brother Jetto") and Episode 93 in the Japanese version (entitled "Cobalt").
