Your favorite Astro Boy opening

Postby Shiyonasan » 10 years ago

I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been made a thread yet, at least not that I could find anyway.

As the title implies, what is your favorite opening from all of the Astro Boy series?

I'll be nice and let you guys vote for more than one opening in the poll, as I do understand that people sometimes can't decide a favorite or their interests change over time. However, I do encourage you all to at least talk about, if you had to choose just one, which opening would be your favorite.

If I had to choose just one, I would go with the 1980s Japanese opening. I've always liked that rendition of the Astro Boy theme for some reason.

EDIT: There are actually three animations that go along with the 1960s series opening, which I didn't realize when making this poll. If you prefer a specific animation for that opening, indicate so in your post and vote for either or both of the 1960s openings in your poll.

Woops. Didn't realize that the thread would submit before I finished the poll. The poll is now live.

Which of the 1963 Japanese openings? There were three of them, though except for not having a sung theme the first season's was the same as the ELV.

Hmm...I wasn't aware that there's more than one opening for that series. The song that's used in the second and third openings/seasons is the same though, right?

Since I can't go back and edit the poll, how about you say which version from the 1960s series is your favorite in a post? Then you can vote for the 1960s English opening in the poll if you want.

The Japanese opening for the second (third?) season had Atom and Uran flying around the world, being followed by Dr. Ochanomizu in a flying car. The final seasons had the opening that you are probably familiar with from episode #193, with Atom flying along side of the SST, Bullet Train, and digging his way through Mt. Fuji (That's where they got the idea for that in the movie).

I think I like this version the best.

One of these days I should use the Linux video editor to make a clip of the second and third openings and post them up on youtube (though I think someone else might have done this already). Also, I think Jeffbert might have posted stills from both of these intro's on the forum at one time.

I like them all, but for the sake of the poll I will answer. I feel like I am implying the others are bad though if I choose.

I assume this one's the first opening?

EDIT: Turns out I can edit the poll, but since there's quite a few votes now, I think I'm going to leave the poll as is.

Yes, the same video as in the ELV, Tezuka added lyrics later, after seeing what Ladd did in the English dubbed version.

I would say my favorite is the 1980s French Opening, but the since it is not in the options I would say the 1980s English Opening is close enough :p
