2017 now? I'm convinced. There is no reboot. This is just a big long tease to give something to talk about ><

That's a huge bummer. I've been waiting for 2016 and now one whole year more.. :(
I'm starting to have the feeling that I'll watch How To Train Your Dragon 3 before the Astro Boy Reboot...

Or The Incredibles 2. (2019) I do hope it just isn't a long tease to give us something to talk about, Dragonrider. :( That would be kinda cruel. Maybe the guys there are just excited for Shenmue 3, what with how much money the first one made. :hyo:

I think there is also the issue that they need a distributor before they can move forward; is that right? There'd be no point in animating much more than a pilot episode at most if they didn't have a channel to air it on.

Unfortunately, a lot of shows are canceled due to a lot of reasons.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cancellation_(television)

Many in the past and future years have been canceled for the reason supplied in the link above. Some are even canceled after one or two episodes episode(s), usually with the first being a pilot. There was a show I liked called 'Dragon Half', which did not receive enough popularity, so they canceled it. There are a number of shows I liked, which ended up like Dragon Half.

I still have hope for the reboot, but do not get your hopes too high. It seems like they have encountered some kind of problem, which I hope they can resolve.

Neither of those lists include animated series aimed at children. Also, the Wikipedia link is incorrect.

Good god, though, I sincerely hope that it isn't cancelled before it can even get through the gate. That'd be... depressing.

This is really unfortunate but it is also something that I am accustomed to in many of my other fandoms :(

We can still hold out some hope that a delay is all we will be faced with instead of outright cancellation.

Are we even sure that this decision is absolute? Has anybody tried inquiring about it on Twitter or something? (I'd do it myself, but I don't use Twitter for much, and that character limit is a huge hangup. :T)
