There are many words borrowed from English & other languages,

Cobalt, Uran, Chiitan--

I do not understand the changing of the 1st letter or sound from 't' to "ch" but it also occurs with 'Tybalt' --> 'Chibalt' & likely others also.

Chi is part of the t line of the syllabary which goes ta, chi, tsu, te, to, it doesn't feel unusual to me to use chi for this reason. But it is possible to write ti in Japanese with modification: てぃ or ティ (not to be confused with てい or テイ, the width is different).

T Line as in the Japanese alphabet. The alphabet has an order which starts with the basic vowels and then moves on to sounds that begin with consonants (k, s, t, n, h, m, y, r, w, n).

Here's a chart that makes more sense.

Though in the Ws two (we, and wi) of those characters are RARELY ever used. I mean EVER.

Hm, I see it, though the contrast with the orange characters seems rather poor. I still do not understand what similarity chi has with t. Thans, Earthshine.
