Because the movie has already been dished out a significant amount of hate on this forum (and everywhere else), why not talk about why you LOVED the movie?

For those wanting to talk about why they loved the Western version of Astro Boy in general there is a lonely thread right here.

The only thing I loved about the movie is that Astro's hair moved... Yep. XD

It's been awhile since I last saw the movie, but I remember I really loved that first flight scene where Astro's flying through the clouds and starts digging through that mountain as a homage to the original opening. That was absolutely beautiful, and probably my favorite scene in the whole movie.

Hmm I'm really trying to recall some stuff. The only scene that immediately popped in my head was the same scene Sporkia mentioned. And I thought Nathan Lane was a good choice for Hamegg.

I loved that they made him slightly older - his voice, and Freddie Highmore's acting really made him seem more "human" and not as "overly perfect."

I thought the scene where he discovers he can fly was fabulous

And I actually love the fact that he and Tenma are reconciled at the end of the movie.

The embedded references to Tezuka were great - such as :tezuka: and :hyo: appearing in the film.

And I know it goes against the opinion of many others, but I actually liked Nicholas Cage as :tenma: (of course, Moonstruck is one of my favorite movies, and he stars in that too).

I liked how Imagi intended for Cora, and most of the surface-dwelling humans, to be Chinese. A friend saw the Mandarin dub of the movie, and the kids say, "We are from China" instead of, "We're from the surface."

As well, Cora had been intended by the director to be completely platonic with Astro, and I'm impressed to see a movie like this portray girls and boys just being regular friends.

For some reason, I like the idea of Astro concealing his robot identity, just to have friends. It seems very suspenseful, and it's exciting.

The digging through the mountain scene was perfectly copied from the same scene from the opening of the final season of the '63 anime. I also liked the scene where :astro: discovers his butt guns

This. I was also very impressed by this fact (even though they ended up being shipped together by fans anyway to the point where some will argue about her intended role :rolleyes :) . I really liked her character and the concept of the surface dwellers.
