Viki still not working for Astro Boy

Note: I realize there has been a thread about this before, but I wasn't entirely sure if I should revive a year old thread.

As of today, April 2, 2016, Astro Boy 1980 is still inaccessible to people in the US, even when logged in. It's said that being a QC Contributor would allow one to see everything regardless of region, but I'm wondering how much you need to do in order to be considered a QC contributor.

Is there any way to get around this?

Use a proxy. ;)

I said this to Little Brown Fox in another thread that I cannot remember the name of.

I've been trying to do that, but it's not working. What region do I need to set the proxy too (I use Hola Better Internet btw)?

You need to set it to a country that is able to watch the videos on the site. Try UK, Canada, Australia, maybe some other random countries in Europe.

I remember setting it to many different proxies. I Even used one for Japan. It didn't work.

I know. Currently on Cuba, and it doesn't work there either.

Try another proxy. Be careful though, some of them are doggy. In the meantime I will ask my friend which one he uses (It is a really good one I have heard) and I will send you a note.

I remember reading that Viki's licence with Tezuka productions had elapsed and wasn't going to be renewed. I think there may be some streaming sites out of China or Korea that still have Astro Boy on line. I know I found one that had the 2003 series, but it was a bit of a pain to use.

I ended up buying the 1980 series on DVD off of ebay. The manga productions set has both the English and Japanese sound tracks, but the content does have some missing scenes from the original Japanese version (though the disk does have some of those scenes in a bonus section).

Man, that sucks. Why is it so hard to watch Astro Boy in Japanese uncut?
