Sunday Comics volumes or Osamu Tezuka complete works?

I've been trying to collect the Tetsuwan Atom manga in Japanese, and so far, I have some of the Sunday Comics imprints. Unfortunately, the chapters aren't in chronological order. With that in mind, is it better to get the Osamu Tezuka complete works imprints or continue collecting the Sunday Comics ones?

Very few collections were released in chronological order. I wouldn't worry about that.

THERE IS ONE set of 7 boxes of Mighty Atom manga reprints, which are the original versions, rather than the abridged ones that Dark Horse / Fred Schodt translated. These are limited editions, & run from several hundred dollars to over $600, because they are out of print. Yet, the MIGHTY ATOM CLUB comics were omitted. It has been about 2 years since I finished buying my own set, as I had been looking for someone to sell the 1st set & ship internationally, so, it is likely that the price has gone up. :astro:

Interesting. Do you remember what it was called?

I decided to also start collecting the Osamu Tezuka complete works imprints, as from what I read, they seem to have the chapters in chronological order.

Hello, Gokablue! Personally unless you are deciding to learn to read Japanese i don't see any reason to purchase Japanese manga when a perfectly English translated version is available.
As to the complete works, if you are referring to the set published by Kodansha, I was lucky enough back in the eighties to have purchased a complete set that had English synopses for each episode in each volume. They were pretty much published in chronological order, but had one less episode which may or may not be included in the Sunday Comics editions. It is included in the Dark Horse editions. The missing story is "The Adventure of the Coral Reef". The "Mighty Atom Club" stories included are the same as in the Ashiya and therefore DH English volumes.
The two stories that have never been reprinted and thus not included so far in any reprint collection that I know of are: the first episode featuring "Ti-Tan", Atom's baby brother and "The Jungle Kingdom" which was a manga serial that Tezuka adapted as a "Mighty Atom" episode.

I  :astro: :)

The Complete Works set is incomplete? That's actually kinda funny. XD

The reason I'm collecting the volumes in Japanese is the same reason I collect the Japanese Dragon Ball volumes (aside from the Dragon Ball manga's censorship issues): I want to have (and eventually be able to read) the manga in its original form.

I believe that Chi-tan only appeared in a single Manga story, though he was in several of the anime episodes.

Interesting, and it would appear that the chapter is lost....unless someone finds one of the original Kodansha Shonen magazines.

I think Jeffbert once posted a page of two from that Chi-Tan story here.
