That's what they did for the 2009 movie, right? I hope that they either do one or the other... I'm good with CGI or live-action, but mixing the two makes me think of Jay Jay the Jet Plane and I laugh into my popcorn.

I was thinking more along the lines of what they have been doing for a long time now with blending CGI and live action. Such examples can be found with the X-Men movies or any modern super hero film. Alice in Wonderland as well and numerous others. Then there also is The Hobbit Trilogy.

I was more thinking of a high quality, life-like CGI Atom blended with live action rather than something like Roger Rabbit. I can totally see how jarring it might be if Atom was very cartoony in comparison to his co-actors.

Hm, like the CGI adaption of Tintin in 2011? It was motion capture CG, making everyone look quite realistic(At least I was quite confused trying to figure if it was animation or live-action)

That's the technique they used for Tintin; motion capture and it is standard for photographing high quality cgi characters. It is also how I see Atom might be handled in a live action movie if they did not want to cast a child actor. Atom as well as others would be cgi placements among non-cgi actors such as with Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

But this is all speculation of HOW they may go about doing it if they simply did not want to cast a real child actor for the role.

I want them to make Atom look like a doll. Not a girl's doll, but you know like...that film, The Boy? A doll like that, but less...creepy.
Plus, the manga always says how Atom looks like a doll.

i'm expecting a Director's Cut on Blu-Ray 4K of this supposed movie, with more violent scenes than the original PG-13 cut (and Astro killing Skunk by Choking him), that would mean it would be the First Astro movie to be Rated R  , go ahead and barrage me with hate mail

I do hope they cast a kid as Astro Boy instead of a teenager, though some creative liberties with his design

In the 1960s animated version, Atom passes for human in several episodes.
