Two versions of "Our Friends the Robots"?

So around when the movie came out, I found this book at a Scholastic book fair, and bought it.
And then someone threw it out (by accident!) I recently ordered a new copy to replace it, but there were a few things off about the new book.
In my old copy, there were some pages in the middle that were like character bios, with a quick overview of each of the major characters in the movie. These are absent in the new book, and it doesn't look like anything was ripped out.
Did Scholastic sell a slightly different edition of the book at their fairs, or is my new book defective?
