ATOM THE BEGINNING

After a great calamity in Japan, the world needed a hero: but did this hero need to be a god? Or a friend? Two young geniuses, Umataro Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu, have labored extensively to create a powerful artificial intelligence to protect the future. The result of their collaboration was a robot, A106. In this previously untold story, Tenma and Ochanomizu lay the groundwork leading up to the birth of an android that would later change the world.

Since YJ Doodle shared the opening animation, I'll share the ending animation:

I was very impressed with the first episode. It does deviate from the manga a bit, but it doesn't deviate in a bad way. For instance, while Ran is a silent character in the manga, she's given a soft-spoken voice in the anime. To me, that's a nice take on an aspect of the manga that couldn't be adapted as well into the anime.

I think the character designs and animation are faithful to the manga too, even though it tends to look a bit odd in the anime at times. The opening and ending animations, however, are absolutely beautiful. Definitely check those out in the links YJ Doodle and I provided.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of this series!

I must agree! There were some events that either did not happen or happened in a different order, or characters that were newly slotted in, but nothing that changed the story too much. The best part of it had to be the last, though. All I could think was, 'BIG NOSED NERDS!' XDD

This is awesome! I've just signed up for premium. Great to hear it's being run by Madman, they've been solid supporters of anime in Australia for many years and they "get" anime fans, something I feel that Amazon doesn't. eg. For the 1980s boxset, Madman included the first two uncut episodes with subtitles. I seem to be able to play it straight in a browser window too, even though the Supported Devices page says "PC with TV".
