The thing is, is that Cartoon Network is not deliberately trying to be sexist, because they are not - but the way in which they are marketing is. They don't care about gender when it comes to creation, but they certainly do when it comes to audience and consumers.
Cartoon Network is a business, and according to them girls don't buy toys as much as boys. They know very well that girls DO watch what they deem to be 'boy shows' and it's when a MASSIVE amount of girls watch shows that they deem to be 'boy shows' they get antsy. They don't know and they don't even TRY to market to these viewers and because they don't buy what is in existence they claim to be losing money.
The main executives DO feel this way, not the company, the employees and developers but those at the top that make the final word.
This of course does not mean that Cartoon Network is a BAD company as a whole, but it certainly means that they don't know how to do a good job in marketing.
If any of you want me to send you a copy of the specific article where a certain famous cartoon writer revealed this... note me.
Back on track... I also believe that that Annoying Orange show is god-awful. I couldn't stand anymore than 30 seconds of it.
Oh, I don't think it does. It's just sad when those are the kind of rating standards the creators and employers have to deal with; not knowing if their show will get cancelled solely due to what kind of audience watches it. When I was still fairly active in the KND fandom, most of the fans I knew were girls, so you can imagine how fast that show would have been gone by those standards (especially since the first merchandise wave did not do so well so the second wave never got developed (which sucks!)).
