"Shiyonasan" wrote:"The Christmas Attic", which is the second album released by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Found it for a dollar at a thrift store, so I figured, "Why not?" The only album I'm missing from them now is "Beethoven's Last Night".

Always liked Trans-Siberian Orchestra even though I don't listen to their music all the time.

I doubt I've heard that many of their songs through the radio, but I enjoy those I hear. :) It's amusing that you happened to buy it in July. I wonder at what price it would be available in a few months, if it is still available, of course.

I had wanted a dressing gown for the summer for a couple of years, so I finally bought one yesterday. I had figured that by this time, I could benefit from the sales of the summer clothes. I was right. But the funny thing is that the one I chose happened to match the pajamas I had bought a couple of months ago, because they are items from the same collection.

Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter.
Had to buy it for my presentation as I didn't bring my other laptop that has VGA port.

Ooh, the other day, I met up with some friends and we went to hang out in Chinatown for a bit, and I ended up buying a book in Chinese and also some snacks. I haven't quite taken a crack at translating the book yet, but apparently one kid's name literally translates to Leather. XD Unfortunately, my sister keeps trying to eat all my snacks because she's addicted to them now. >_>

I was drooling over those 27" 1440P and 1600P jobs, but they were over twice the price (ouch!) Anyway, I think the 27" would be a bit too big for my desk and I'd have needed a new video card too.

I have a 1080P 27" ASUS monitor, & it fits nicely on my desk. I just learned of ASUS' 31" 4K ultra HD that has twice the horizontal & vertical pixel resolution of 1080P.

3840 by 2160 pixels; and all that, for a mere $3,500. Well, mine does have a very high contrast ratio, & the PIP; but it lacks the ability to select audio from whatever is in the PIP. I need to run the audio through my VCR.

Yikes! Now that is quite a monitor.
I actually could probably fit a 27" on the desk, but it would take a bit to get used to! I currently have two monitors, a 19" and a 22" at 1440x900 and 1680x1050 respectively. I'll keep the 22" and run it along side the 24" when I get it. I prefer the 16:10 ratio for computer use over the 16:9 which is made for TV. It may seem to be a small thing, but it makes a difference.

With that 31" monitor, I wouldn't need to use TWO monitors, but I can think of better things to spend the $3500 on! That 24" was only $271 delivered.

BTW that 31" is also a 16:9 ratio. If it were 3840 x 2400, now THAT would be nice!

My new monitor came in the mail today. While it's not THAT much larger than the old one, it sure makes a big difference! I tried running it in the vertical (portrait) mode, but getting the display settings right was a pain, so for now it's in the landscape mode. So I now have a 1650x1050 secondary monitor and a 1920x1200 primary. That gives me a LOT more screen area, real useful since I can't focus that close anymore!

Also it's a lot sharper and brighter than the old one (LED vs Cold Cathode lighting).

I guess I am fortunate, despite my poor eyesight, I can clearly see the monitor at native resolution & might need to slide my specs down my nose a bit to see a book; though still the monitor would be in focus, though not quite sharp.

I now need bifocals as I am both near sighted and far sighted at the same time. I actually have "blended" lenses that do not have the sharp line between the different focal length sections, so they act as tri-focals with an in-between area. I have to move my head up and down to select the right section at times!
