What's the best cartoon you've ever seen?

Postby Juanita » 10 years ago

I saw the worst cartoon thread, and I thought we should have a best cartoon thread as well. :)
This is where you can give your opinions on the best (or maybe just your favorite) cartoons. This can include cartoons from all around the world.

I'll start with what I think were the best cartoons of 2013:
1. Gravity Falls
2. Steven Universe
3. Wander Over Yonder

Some of my favorite cartoons are:

1. Ed, Edd n Eddy

It's been my favorite North American cartoon of all time for many years. The humor is something that has always clicked with me. I often find myself quoting the show, especially around my sister, who grew up watching the show with me as well. It's a stupid, but entertaining show at the same time.

2. Teen Titans

Note: This does not include Teen Titans Go! That show is pretty mediocre in my opinion.

Teen Titans has a good balance of humor and serious plot-driven storylines. The anime-style animation is a plus as well; I think it fits the style of the show. The voice acting is pretty good, though it falters in some places. Overall, a solid show through and through.

3. Avatar - The Last Airbender

I pretty much like Avatar for the same reasons I like Teen Titans, though the voice acting is definitely better in Avatar. Great characters and character development as well.

4. The Legend of Korra

It's a nice follow-up to Avatar. The second season was a little disappointing, but still entertaining for what it was. Again, great characters, good humor, and solid animation. Of all the cartoons still airing currently, Korra is definitely my favorite.

5. Jackie Chan Adventures

I mainly like this show because of the character, Uncle, but the other characters can be funny as well. I always looked forward to watching this show on Saturday mornings on Kids' WB.

6. Samurai Jack

A surprisingly deep show for a cartoon on Cartoon Network. Though there was humor at times, this show was mainly serious most of the time. It had a good plot though: it's about a samurai who gets transported to the future (beyond present day) against his will and how he survives in a futuristic world with robots and other obstacles he has to overcome. Throughout the series, he looks for a way to get back home to his time period. I haven't seen every episode, but the ones I did see were very good. Highly recommended.

I love all of these shows with the exception of Samurai Jack and Jackie Chan (which I never really watched much). Not that they're bad. They're not.

Ed, Ed, and Eddy is one of my all-time favorite cartoons.

I did grow up watching My little pony and Dexter's laboratory, so those are probably the best for me.
Others would probably be, Tom and Jerry,Powerpuff girls,Spongebob square pants, and the house of mouse. (I used to love house of mouse when I was little. Ah, the good ol' days. :lol :)

"The Mysterious Cities of Gold"
Maybe not the best, but it's in my short list.

We ARE counting Anime type cartoons? This one was a French creation, but made in Japan.

I suppose we're counting anime as animation animated in Japan and aimed directly at a Japanese audience first and foremost? Because ALL of my top favorite 'best' animations were in fact animated in either Japan or South Korea, but were written in the USA.

1.) Batman the Animated Series.
2.) Samurai Jack
3.) Static Shock (whoop whoop!)

I originally said no because of the amount of anime threads already in existence, but I might as well add it because they're cartoons too.
So yes anime as well.

@tailz - Tom and Jerry was my favorite show when I was little! I still love it. Slapstick at its finest.

LOL I think I'm a little too serious for my own good. All the other shows I can think of are because they have really deep meanings for me and they explore some themes you might not expect from a kid's show (such as Batman and Static Shock).

Also... as another show that I really enjoyed when I was younger... REBOOT! Anyone else remember that awesome show?

I do! I don't remember much about the show because I haven't watched it since it aired on Cartoon Network, but I do remember keeping up with it pretty regularly when it did air.

Fun fact: ReBoot was the first half-hour, fully computer-animated TV series.

I remember hearing something like that. It was a really entertaining show with a fun plot, and it made fun of other shows all the time (in a nice way).
